Accessible Wet Floor Shower | Bingley | More Ability

Published: 15 June 2026

An accessible wet floor shower transformed this traditional bathroom in Bingley into a safer, more practical space designed to support independent living. By replacing the existing corner bath with a spacious level-access shower, integrated seating and discreet accessibility features, the new bathroom now offers greater comfort, confidence and ease of use while maintaining a stylish, contemporary appearance.

Background

After discovering More Ability online, the family contacted our team on behalf of their father to discuss creating a safer and easier-to-use bathroom. Following an initial conversation regarding their requirements, a free home design consultation was arranged with Senior Designer Nigel.

At the time of the appointment, the existing bathroom featured a large corner bath alongside a separate shower enclosure. Whilst functional, the layout was no longer ideally suited to the homeowner’s needs and the family wanted to create a bathroom that would provide improved accessibility, comfort and practicality for everyday use.

Initially, the family were considering a walk-in bath with an overhead shower. During the home consultation, Nigel carefully assessed the existing room, discussed the homeowner’s requirements and proposed an alternative solution that would better support both current and future needs.

Accessible Wet Floor Shower Design

To improve accessibility and create a bathroom better suited to independent living, Nigel recommended transforming the room into an accessible wet floor shower with integrated seating and carefully considered support features.

The existing corner bath was removed and replaced with a spacious level-access wet floor shower area, creating a more open and practical layout. This not only improves accessibility but also makes moving around the room significantly easier.

A bespoke Corian bench seat was incorporated within the showering area, providing a comfortable seated showering option while maintaining the contemporary appearance of the room. The level-access design removes the need to step over a bath or shower tray, helping to make bathing safer and more convenient.

Stone-effect shower wall panels were selected throughout the shower area to create a modern, stylish finish while providing a practical low-maintenance alternative to traditional tiling. These were complemented by slip-resistant vinyl flooring in a Coastal Flint finish, chosen to provide additional reassurance underfoot in wet areas.

To further support confidence and stability, contemporary chrome grab rails were positioned within the room. These practical features were carefully incorporated into the design to provide additional support without creating a clinical appearance.

The remaining sanitaryware was also updated as part of the project. A wall-hung WC with concealed cistern was chosen to create a cleaner, more spacious feel, while a Carbon Grey vanity unit and basin provide practical storage and contemporary styling.

Finishing touches included an illuminated mirror cabinet, integrated lighting and an anthracite heated towel rail, helping to create a bathroom that is both highly functional and visually appealing.

The overall result was a stylish and highly practical accessible wet floor shower designed to support safer everyday bathing without compromising on appearance.

The Design Process

Following the initial home consultation, detailed CAD visuals were created to help the family visualise how the proposed bathroom would look once completed.

The CAD design clearly demonstrated how removing the existing corner bath would create a more open and accessible layout centred around the new wet floor shower area. The visuals also allowed the family to review the chosen finishes, accessibility features and sanitaryware before installation work began.

Throughout the design process, Nigel worked closely with the family to ensure every aspect of the room balanced practicality, comfort and contemporary styling while fully supporting the homeowner’s requirements.

Accessible Wet Floor Shower Installation

Once the design was finalised, Installation Surveyor Joe carried out a detailed technical survey to confirm all measurements and specifications ahead of installation.

Multi-skilled fitter Daniel then completed the full bathroom transformation, carefully preparing the room for the new accessible wet floor shower installation and ensuring every element of the design was delivered to a high standard.

As part of our complete accessible bathroom design and installation service, every stage of the project was fully managed by the More Ability team, helping to ensure the installation ran smoothly from start to finish.

The Finished Project

The completed accessible wet floor shower successfully transformed the bathroom into a safer, easier-to-use and more contemporary space that better supports independent living.

By replacing the existing corner with a spacious level-access shower area and integrated seating, the room now provides significantly improved accessibility, comfort and usability. The addition of slip-resistant flooring, grab rails and carefully considered support features further enhances confidence and safety during everyday use.

The stone-effect wall panels, contemporary sanitaryware and coordinated finishes help the room feel modern, spacious and welcoming, while the carefully planned layout ensures the bathroom remains practical and supportive for years to come.

Most importantly, the project has provided the homeowner and family with reassurance that the bathroom is now better suited to both current and future needs, creating a space designed to make everyday bathing safer, more comfortable and more enjoyable.

Customer Trustpilot Review

Following completion of the project, the family shared their experience with a 5-star Trustpilot review praising both the service provided and the finished result.
