Accessible Walk-In Shower Room Case Study | York | More Ability

Published: 10 June 2022

Problem

Mrs. Rigby’s dated bathroom needed updating to become more easily accessible but retain a stylish and modern design. The existing bathroom, which was limited in size, consisted of a bath and a basin, with the separate WC located in an adjoining room.

Design Solution

Having already had work done at a previous property and been suitably impressed with the level of received service and workmanship, Mrs. Rigby contacted More Ability and booked a free design appointment, for Senior Designer, Nigel, to once again visit her at home and discuss her requirements, and ideas, alongside offering expert advice.

Wanting to combine two rooms into one and create a much bigger space, Mrs. Rigby also wanted to take out the bath and replace it with a walk-in accessible shower and accentuate the design with a variety of modern fixtures and fittings.

Listening to all wants and needs, Nigel further discussed Mrs. Rigby’s requirements in detail, and went through all possible options, agreeing on the best way forward with regards to a design. With all her needs and ideas considered, Mrs. Rigby was happy to move to the next stage, which involved a visit to our Accessible Bathroom Showroom in Harrogate.

Having produced a detailed quote for the works Mrs. Rigby was also presented with a CAD design to help her envision what her new walk-in accessible shower room would look like, and, with help from Nigel, was able to pick her final choices all of which resulted in her placing an order with us.

Accessible Walk-In Shower Room Installation

A beautiful, walk-in accessible shower was installed by our multi-skilled fitter Mario, who along with installing the new fixtures and fittings, also removed the wall separating the bathroom and WC, combing the two rooms together.

The bath was taken out and replaced with a stylish walk-in accessible shower that featured a glass flipper screen and modern chrome fittings.

Fully tiled, the shower room displayed a white textured feature wall in the wet area with the rest of the room finished in a plain gloss tile which maintained a modern and aesthetically pleasing look and feel. Finishing the modern design, Mrs. Rigby’s new walk-in accessible shower room showcased wall-hung sanitaryware and a dark grey towelrail which complimented the luxurious Camaro anti-slip vinyl flooring.

Outcome

A dated bathroom and adjoining WC were transformed into a single room that consisted of a walk-in accessible shower with additional modern features.

What Mrs. Rigby said about More Ability:

Very impressed with Mario's workmanship + attitude + ability to oversee any difficulties.
