Accessible Walk-In Shower Case Study | Wetherby | North Yorkshire

Published: 7 June 2021

Problem:

Mr & Mrs Rawson’s 4-piece bathroom consisted of a bath with built in shower, basin and WC located in a separate room.

Now struggling to use the bath and wanting to create more space, Mr & Mrs Rawson hoped to remove their bath and install an accessible shower.

Design Solution:

Upon visiting our Harrogate Accessible Bathroom Showroom to view our accessible bathroom options, Mr & Mrs Rawson discussed with Showroom Assistant Leanne accessible shower options and their bathing wants and needs.

Happy with the information gathered, Mr & Mrs Rawson booked a free design appointment for one of our Senior Designers to visit their home, view their bathroom, and provide a preliminary design and provisional quote dependant to final fixture and fitting choices.

Mr & Mrs Rawson was visited by More Ability Senior Designer Andy who further discussed with Mr & Mrs Rawson their mobility bathing needs and design requirements. Andy then used his extensive bathroom knowledge and expertise to create a spacious walk-in accessible shower room design.

Happy to go ahead, Andy invited Mr & Mrs Rawson back to our Harrogate Accessible Bathroom Showroom to present a visual CAD design allowing them to envision the new look of their shower room. Andy also assisted Mr & Mrs Rawson with selecting their final fixtures and fittings.

Walk-In Accessible Shower Installation:

A spacious walk-in accessible shower with fixed shower seat, slip resistant tray and glass flipper screen was installed by More Ability Multi-Skilled fitter Mario, allowing Mr & Mrs Rawson to safely bathe without stepping over a tall bath side and to rest their legs whilst bathing.

The accessible bathroom design also included installation of a short projection basin to create additional floor space.

Bathroom finishing touches included low maintenance accessible wall boards in a grey marble finish and grey anti-slip vinyl flooring.

A contemporary chrome grab rail to assist with mobility and a matching chrome heated towel rail was also installed allowing Mr & Mrs Rawson to warm their towels whilst bathing.

Outcome:

A small bathroom with an unused bath was transformed into a spacious walk-in accessible shower room with additional stylish safety features.

What Mrs Rawson said about More Ability;

Excellent work by Mario in fitting our new shower room. He is hardworking, organised, and informative. Very positive experience. If we should need any work in the future, we would ask for Mario. We rate Passmore an excellent company and would recommend them to anyone.
