Mobility Level Access Shower Case Study | Leeds | West Yorkshire

Published: 18 October 2019

Bathing Problem:

Mr & Mrs Barr visited our Leeds Mobility Bathroom Showroom with a view to researching possible solutions for their elderly mother’s bathroom. Having recently moved into a new property whereby the existing amenities were unsuitable they were wanting to install an adapted future proofed solution for ease of use and safety while offering them peace of mind when their mother used the suite.

Featuring a 1200 x 800mm shower cubicle with a high step, which was proving difficult to manage, the existing bathroom also incorporated a removable high rise toilet seat to make getting on and off easier and a number of strategically placed hand rails.

Bathing Solution:

Unsure of what solutions were available is what initially led Mr & Mrs Barr to our Leeds Mobility Bathroom Showroom where they were greeted by More Ability Senior Designer, Andy. Impressed by Andy’s knowledge and the solutions we had on display it was decided that the next logic step would be to invite Andy out to survey the existing bathroom with a view to offering help and advice on what could be incorporated in the existing space while offering the most practical solution to meet their mothers bathing needs.

Deciding a mobility level access shower was the best solution with regards to solving current and future bathing problems Andy proposed a complete bathroom layout change and reconfiguration which incorporated a sliding door for access, all of which made best use of the available space.

Installation Outcome:

An impractical and unsafe bathroom that was proving increasingly difficult to use was transformed into a mobility level access shower room that offered ease of use, safety and complete peace of mind. Completely re-configuring the room and including a sliding door meant more space and area for manoeuvring if and when the need was required.

Installing a large level access tray down the full length of room the shower was concealed behind half height doors and featured a curtain for privacy and a cushioned seat for comfort and safety. The existing WC was replaced with a comfort height system and the basin pedestal updated to be in keeping with the new design. For a maintenance free finish all rooms were wall boarded in a bright gloss white design with complimentary dark grey anti-slip vinyl installed on the floor.

What Mr & Mrs Barr said about More Ability:

“My wife and I are very impressed with Passmore. From initial enquiry through to design, installation and completion the customer service has been outstanding.

Andy the designer and Joe the surveyor produced an impressive plan transforming a previous drab, outdated and unsuitable bathroom into a modern, mobility friendly design to suit the needs of my wife's elderly mother.

Craig, the fitter, did a fantastic job putting the plan into action. The result: a professionally fitted bathroom which looks great installed with top quality products and is practical and easy to maintain. Completed on time and to budget. Many thanks for a superb job.”
