Background
After finding More Ability online, the homeowner booked a free design appointment through our website to discuss creating a safer and more practical bathroom. From the initial enquiry, they knew they wanted to replace the existing bath with a level-access shower, alongside a new WC, basin, anti-slip flooring and heated towel rail, whilst modernising the room throughout.
Senior Designer Simon visited the property to discuss the project in more detail, carefully listening to the homeowner's existing concerns with the bathroom. The room featured a dated teal three-piece suite comprising a bath, WC and pedestal basin, which had become increasingly difficult to use due to mobility needs. Whilst the homeowner had a clear vision of the improvements they wanted to make, they remained open to Simon's ideas and recommendations on how best to achieve them.

Following a detailed consultation, Simon proposed transforming the room into a contemporary mobility wet room that would better support independent living both now and in the future, whilst maintaining a warm, welcoming appearance rather than a clinical feel.
Mobility Wet Room Design
To improve accessibility without compromising on style, Simon designed a spacious mobility wet room that retained the existing room layout whilst completely transforming its functionality.
The existing bath was removed and replaced with the level-access shower, providing safe and convenient access without the need to step over a bath. A contemporary glass shower screen was incorporated to help contain water within the designated showering area whilst maintaining an open feel and allowing natural light to flow throughout the room.

Glacier marble white wall boards were selected to brighten the space and provide a low-maintenance alternative to traditional tiles. These were complemented by anthracite anti-slip vinyl flooring, carefully chosen to provide improved grip underfoot whilst creating a striking contrast against the lighter wall finishes.
The design also included a comfort height WC to make sitting and standing easier, together with a new pedestal basin and chrome basin mixer. A thermostatically controlled electric shower was installed to provide safe, reliable temperature control during everyday use, while a contemporary curved chrome grab rail offered additional support where required.

To complete the room, Simon specified a new radiator, recessed shower niche and contemporary chrome finishes throughout, ensuring the finished bathroom balanced practicality with modern styling.
Following the home consultation, the homeowner visited our Harrogate showroom to review the detailed CAD visuals Simon had prepared. This allowed them to confidently visualise the finished room, make their final product selections and complete the finishing touches before placing their order.
Installation
Once the design had been finalised, Installation Surveyor Joe carried out a detailed technical survey to confirm all measurements and specifications before work commenced.
Multi-Skilled Fitter Jack then completed the full bathroom transformation, carefully removing the existing sanitaryware, wall tiles, flooring and radiator before preparing the room for the new wet room installation. The project included reinforcing the floor structure within the shower area, strengthening the wall for the grab rail, plastering, creating a recessed shower niche, installing the wet room flooring and completing all plumbing, electrical and finishing works required to deliver the new design.

As part of our complete mobility bathroom design and installation service, every stage of the project was fully managed by the More Ability team, ensuring the installation progressed smoothly while delivering the high standards in customer experience for our client.
The Finished Project
The completed mobility wet room has successfully transformed a dated bathroom into a safer, easier-to-use and more contemporary space that better supports independent living.
By replacing the existing bath with a spacious level-access shower and incorporating anti-slip flooring, thermostatic controls and carefully positioned support features, the room now provides significantly improved comfort, confidence and accessibility for everyday use.
The bright marble-effect wall panels, contemporary sanitaryware and carefully selected colour palette create a modern, welcoming environment that feels stylish rather than clinical. Retaining the existing room layout whilst completely reimagining its functionality has allowed the homeowner to enjoy a bathroom that is both practical and visually appealing.
Most importantly, the project has delivered a bathroom designed to support the homeowner's needs today whilst providing reassurance that it will continue to do so well into the future.

Customer Feedback
Following completion of the project, the homeowner sent the team an SMS expressing their appreciation for everyone involved.
"Your bathroom changed my life. Thank you for everyone who all worked together."
The homeowner also wished to recognise the workmanship provided throughout the installation.
"Would you say a big thank you too for Jack - he worked so hard and always so helpful. He has so many skills for the work he does and never leaves a job unfinished before going home."
