Mobility Wet Room Case Study | Harrogate | North Yorkshire

Bathing Problem:

To coincide with the launch of our More Ability division in Harrogate, last December we ran a competition to change the quality of someone’s life by giving away an easy access mobility wet room, fully designed and fitted.

Entering the competition on her brothers (Ricks) behalf, Eleanor Matthews was hopeful upon entering that winning the competition would offer Rick safety, independence and them both peace of mind following a stroke 3 ½ years previous that had left Rick partially paralysed and unable to get in and out of his existing bath.

Bathing Solution:

Announced at the end of January 2019, Eleanor couldn’t believe there luck when we confirmed Rick as the worthy winner. Having used a perching stool for the past three years the shock announcement would provide Rick a better quality of life as the existing bathroom was completely unusable. With a specification that would include:

• Full design and installation of a mobility wet room
• Comfort height WC and Pedestal basin
• Cushioned shower seat and Thermostatically controlled electric shower
• Anti-slip vinyl to the floor and full and part tiled to the walls
• Grab bars, towel warmer, shower curtain.

Both Eleanor and Rick were keen to progress with the works.

Installation Outcome:

Fully installed by mid-July, Rick enjoyed his first shower since his stroke and couldn’t thank us enough for the difference this had made on his quality of life.

What was once an unusable and unsafe bathroom had been transformed into a safe, accessible and future proofed mobility wet room that would offer both Rick and his sister, Eleanor complete peace of mind.
