Mobility Wet Room Case Study | Leeds | West Yorkshire

Published: 24 July 2019

Bathing Problem:

Having visited our Harrogate Bathroom Showroom in the first instance, Mr & Mrs Haigh’s daughter and son in law were keen to progress their enquiry with us following a discussion around our full service offering and mobility bathing specialism.

Managing the works on their parent’s behalf the project involved converting half of a large utility room into an accessible mobility wet room for increased safety and ease of use.

Bathing Solution:

With a good idea of what they wanted the project to achieve, More Ability Surveyor & Designer Garry, visited the parent’s property to access the existing space and offer his expert opinion on whether the works could be done, to what extent and provide potential design concepts with regards to room configuration.

Splitting the room in two and building a stud wall Garry proposed keeping the utility as the first room which would then lead into the new shower room. Backing onto an ally way this configuration would involve blocking up an existing door and creating two new windows to allow for natural light to enter.

A comprehensive list of specialist works would then have to follow with regards to extensive electrical work, dropping the ceiling, leveling the floor, stone work and running new services and drains to the created wet room. All of which was fully project managed by More Ability’s in house team of multi-skilled installers.

Installation Outcome:

A large utility room was split in two with one half fully converted into a mobility wet room for increased safety, independence and peace of mind. In awe of the design concepts and room configurations the newly created wet room featured a wet floor shower, wall hung basin and walk hung wash and dry WC.

Wanting to conceal all pipework a half height stud wall was built which would then later to use to mount the sanitary ware onto. Fully wall boarded to offer a maintenance free finishing, complimentary anti-slip vinyl was used as the preferred floor covering to offer additional safety while in use.

What Mr & Mrs Haigh said about more ability:

“Very happy. If work or plans needed to change things were talked through and we even saved money.”
