Accessible Wet Floor Shower Case Study | Wetherby | North Yorkshire

Published: 14 March 2019

Bathing Problem:

Mr Reece had lived in his property since it was built and having put the existing whisper grey bathroom, en-suite and cloakroom in between 20-30 years previous, all were tired and in need of an ample amount of TLC.

With a change in requirements, and wanting to future proof the renovations, Mr Reece had decided a level access design across all rooms was a fundamental requirement of his project, and one that had to be adhered to.

Bathing Solution:

With the fundamental requirement of a level access design and a single criteria of incorporating shower solutions with seats in both renovations, More Ability Surveyor & Designer, Garry, met Mr Reece on site to discuss the works in more detail.

Due to a classic arrangement of an existing bathroom and an awkward shaped en-suite it was decided very early on in the design process that no fundamental changes would be made to the layout in either of the rooms. Instead the majority of the work would take shape in reinforcing the walls and designing two stylish and accessible wet floor showers that were practical, elegant, easy to maintain and functional.

Installation Outcome:

An existing bathroom and en-suite shower room that were both in need of ample TLC were transformed into accessible wet floor showers that were practical, elegant and easy to maintain. Having decided on a chosen colour scheme, Garry designed the rooms with these in mind, offering a consistent but varied approach through-out both renovations

Featuring built in box work for pipe services concealment and in order to create a straight line effect, wall hung semi-recessed furniture was also incorporated across both rooms for an easy to clean and low maintenance design.

What Mr Reece said about More Ability:

“Needed a complete revamp of bathroom, en suite and cloakroom which was long overdue. Also needed to reflect ease of access because of osteoarthritis.

From the first showroom visit through design and planning a difficult journey was made easy by all concerned. The fitter, Richard, was outstanding. He was considerate and his attention to detail and willingness to ensure it matched the highest possible expectation was exceptional. Why did I put it off for so long? The results are stunning!”
