Accessible Wet Floor Shower Case Study | Wakefield | West Yorkshire

Published: 11 January 2019

Bathroom Problem:

Mr & Mrs Hewitt lived down south but had recently purchased a bungalow in West Yorkshire to be near their Son and Daughter-in-law who were going to help look after their parents as they started to get older. The bungalow that had been purchased featured a pretty standard, yet poorly designed, bathroom suite that consisted of a bath with overhead shower, high rise WC, bidet and a run of fitted furniture that housed a sunken basin. The existing bathroom needed adapting with a stylish and accessible mobility friendly solution however time was of the essence as works needed to be completed before Mr & Mrs Hewitt relocated.

Bathroom Solution:

Already living in the local area Mr & Mrs Hewitt’s Son and Daughter-in-law took on the role of managing the project for their parents in order to get things moving quickly. Visiting our Leeds Showroom in the first instance their preliminary research of local companies started and stopped at our showroom having been impressed with the solutions we had on display, in particular the stylish wet floor shower with corian bench, and the professional and knowledgeable approach they received having spoken with More Ability Surveyor & Designer, Garry.

Confident we could do the work that was required, and just as importantly, do it in the timescales provided, an appointment was booked whereby Garry would visit the property to survey the existing suite and design a suitable solution, incorporating the stylish wet floor shower concept.

Installation Outcome:

A poorly designed standard bathroom suite was transformed into a specialist, yet aspirational, mobility friendly wet floor shower solution. Completely transformed the new accessible suite featured a purpose built housing to conceal the washer / dryer and provide amply storage for the new occupants. Along with the wet floor shower the suite also featured a wall hung basin for sit down use and a concealed back to wall WC with two drop down riser rails. Finished with wall boarding to the wet areas the flooring was covered in a specialist anti-slip vinyl with a number of strategically placed grab rails for added peace of mind and safety.

What mr & mrs hewitt said about more ability:

“Professional and considerate from start to finish. Would be more than too happy to recommend.”
