Accessible Wet Floor Shower Case Study | Wetherby | North Yorkshire

Published: 31 January 2018

Problem:

Mr & Mrs Woodhams had a dated, baby pink, bathroom, consisting of a bath, with overhead shower, pedestal basin and separate adjoining WC that was in need of a little TLC.

Wanting to modernise a tired design, while future proofing for any potential struggles that arise with age, Mr & Mrs Woodhams were wanting to transform their existing bathroom into a stylish and accessible suite.

Solution:

Having visited our Harrogate Bathroom Showroom in the first instance Mr & Mrs Woodhams had a good idea of what they wanted to achieve having ascertained inspiration from the various displays and as a result of researching concepts online.

With a future proofed shower solution at the forefront of their mind, More Ability Designer & Surveyor, Nigel Dawson, met the couple on site to discuss their wants, needs and requirements in more detail. Taking everything into consideration, and bearing in mind their desire to create space and incorporate some form of bathroom furniture, Nigel proposed taking out the adjoining wall, converting two rooms into one and totally opening up the available space.

Designing a future proofed layout, inclusive of a stylish and accessible wet floor shower solution and a purpose built stud wall to hide the pipework from the wall hung vanity basin unit and concealed cistern WC, Nigel had in fact created the ultimate showering suite.

Outcome:

Although the proposed concept was the most suited with regards to meeting the couples wants, needs, desires and requirements, Nigel had to take the time to present the benefits, while transferring industry knowledge, in order to get both Mr & Mrs Woodhams on board with the design.

Successfully gaining their trust as the experienced bathroom surveyor who offered answers to both design and technical related questions, a united decision was made to go ahead with the proposed concept. A decision that took some time to make but resulted in a future proofed wet floor shower solution that ensured easy access, great style and maximum safety was one that, more importantly, they both loved.
