Background

After discovering More Ability online, the clients visited our Leeds mobility bathroom showroom to explore our range of mobility bathroom solutions and gain a better understanding of what could be achieved within their home.

During their showroom visit, the clients discussed the difficulties they were experiencing with their existing bathroom and arranged a free home design consultation with Senior Designer Garry.

At the time of the onsite appointment, the existing bathroom included a traditional bath which had become increasingly difficult to use due to mobility challenges. The clients wanted to replace the bath with a safer and more practical walk-in shower solution that would better support day-to-day living while maintaining a clean and modern appearance.

During the home consultation, Garry carefully assessed the existing room, listened to the clients’ requirements and began developing a bespoke mobility wet room design tailored to their needs both now and in the future.

Mobility Wet Room Design

To improve usability and future-proof the bathroom for changing mobility needs, Garry proposed transforming the room into a modern mobility wet room with level-access showering and integrated support features.

The finished design removed the existing bath and replaced it with a spacious wet floor shower area, creating a much more open and practical layout.

Large matt Carrara marble wall panels were installed throughout the room, helping to create a bright, clean and contemporary finish while also providing a low-maintenance alternative to traditional tiles. These were complemented by durable anti-slip vinyl flooring in a slate haze finish, chosen to provide improved grip and reassurance underfoot in wet areas.

The walk-in shower area was carefully designed to support safer and more comfortable bathing. A padded folding shower seat with supportive armrests and backrest was installed within the showering area, allowing for secure seated showering when required.

A thermostatically controlled dual control shower with slide rail was also fitted, offering safe and easy temperature adjustment for everyday use. To further support confidence and stability within the room, a contemporary curved chrome grab rail was strategically positioned alongside an L-shaped shower curtain rail to help contain water within the wet area while maintaining the room’s open feel.

The basin pipework was altered and repositioned into the wall to create a neater finish and maximise the available floor space, helping the room feel larger and easier to move around in.

The overall result was a stylish and highly practical mobility wet room designed to support safer independent bathing without compromising on appearance.

The Design Process

Following the initial home consultation, the clients were able to review detailed CAD visuals showing how the proposed wet room would look once completed. The CAD design closely reflected the finished installation, helping the clients confidently visualise the new layout, finishes and mobility features before installation work began.

Throughout the design process, Garry worked closely with the clients to ensure every aspect of the room balanced practicality, comfort and modern styling while fully supporting their mobility requirements.

Installation

Once the design was finalised, installation surveyor Jack carried out a detailed technical survey to confirm all measurements and specifications ahead of installation.

Multi-skilled bathroom fitter Chris then completed the full transformation, carefully removing the existing bath, wall tiles and flooring before preparing the room for the new wet room installation.

The installation included reinforcement work beneath the floor area to support the wet floor shower system, alongside plastering, pipework alterations, wall preparation and installation of the new anti-slip flooring and wall panels.

As part of our full mobility bathroom design and fit service, every stage of the installation was fully managed by the More Ability team to ensure the project ran smoothly and to the highest possible standard, reflecting the care, attention and professionalism highlighted throughout our Why Choose Us approach.

The Finished Project

The completed mobility wet room successfully transformed the clients’ bathroom into a safer, easier-to-use and more contemporary space that better supports day-to-day living.

By replacing the traditional bath with a spacious level-access shower area and incorporating practical mobility features such as anti-slip flooring, grab rails and seated showering, the room now offers significantly improved comfort, confidence and usability.

The bright marble-effect wall panels and clean white suite help the room feel modern, spacious and welcoming, while the carefully planned layout ensures the wet room remains practical and supportive for years to come.

Most importantly, the project has given the clients greater independence and reassurance, creating a mobility bathroom designed to make everyday bathing safer and more comfortable both now and into the future.
