Mobility Wet Room Adaptation | Batley | More Ability

Published: 12 December 2025

Background

Living in Batley, our client was finding their existing bathroom increasingly difficult to use safely. The room was fitted with a traditional bath, pedestal basin and WC, but getting in and out of the bath had become a daily challenge. This raised concerns around slips and falls and made independent bathing stressful rather than comfortable.

To improve safety and restore confidence, the client contacted More Ability to explore a shower adaptation that would better support their mobility needs and allow them to continue living independently at home.

Disabled Wet Room Design

Adaptation Surveyor Jordan visited the property to carry out a full assessment of the bathroom and discuss the client’s requirements in detail. With space at a premium and the need for step-free access, a level access mobility wet room was identified as the most suitable long-term solution.

The existing bath was removed and replaced with a flush, level access wet room shower, removing the need to step over a bath edge and significantly reducing the risk of falls. The basin and WC were removed and refitted within the existing layout to maximise usable floor space while maintaining a practical and familiar bathroom arrangement.

A raised-height WC was installed to support safer and more comfortable transfers. Half-height shower doors were incorporated to help contain water within the wet area while still allowing assisted showering when required. These doors are fully removable, offering flexibility and opening up valuable floor space in the compact bathroom.

Showering safety and comfort were further enhanced with the installation of a Mira Select Flex thermostatic shower, complete with anti-scalding temperature controls and an adjustable slide rail kit. A fixed grey cushioned shower seat was installed to allow secure and comfortable seated showering, while strategically placed grab rails provide additional stability and reassurance.

To complete the transformation, the room was fully tiled using Hvar Cream tiles, creating a bright, neutral and easy-to-maintain finish. The floor was fully tanked and finished with anti-slip vinyl flooring, ensuring maximum safety underfoot in wet conditions and meeting the high standards expected of a More Ability mobility wet room.

Disabled Wet Room Installation

The installation was completed by Multi-Skilled Fitter Vitalie, whose professionalism and attention to detail ensured the project was delivered to a high standard from start to finish. The work was carried out with care and consideration, with a strong focus on cleanliness and minimising disruption throughout the installation process.

Vitalie’s respectful approach and tidy workmanship helped the client feel at ease, ensuring the bathroom remained as accessible as possible during the project.

The Finished Disabled Wet Room Adaptation

The completed mobility wet room provides a safe, practical and modern bathing space that supports the client’s independence and daily routine. With level access showering, anti-slip flooring, thermostatic temperature control and supportive seating, the bathroom now offers a dignified and easy-to-use environment tailored to the client’s needs.

The soft, neutral finish keeps the room light and welcoming, while the flexible shower door system ensures the space can adapt as mobility requirements change in the future.
