Mobility Wet Room | Bramhope | More Ability

Published: 23 June 2025

Background

Mr. and Mrs. Pendlebury first discovered More Ability online and decided to visit our Leeds bathroom showroom to explore mobility-enhancing bathroom options. Their primary concern was adapting their existing en-suite to better meet their evolving needs. Key requirements included replacing their high-step shower with a safer alternative and installing a comfort-height WC with integrated bidet functionality.

Unsure of how best to utilise the available space—particularly given the limitations of a solid concrete floor—they sought expert guidance on layout reconfiguration and accessibility improvements. Following their showroom visit, our Showroom Consultant Laura arranged a free design consultation to help bring their vision to life.

Mobility Wet Room Design

Senior Designer Garry conducted a detailed site visit to assess the space and listen to the Pendleburys’ needs and preferences. With accessibility, ease of use, and discreet design top of mind, Garry proposed a tailored mobility wet room solution to enhance comfort and usability.

To eliminate the difficulty of stepping into a conventional shower, Garry designed a full wet room concept featuring a custom-built Corian bench seat—ideal for sitting while showering. To help contain water within the shower area, a glass screen was installed alongside an extended flipper panel, offering additional splash protection while maintaining effortless access.

The WC was upgraded to a back-to-wall, concealed cistern comfort-height bidet toilet, complete with wash and dry functionality and an integrated drop-down grab bar to aid safe and independent use. A wall-mounted vanity basin unit added accessible washing and additional storage while keeping floor space clear for maneuverability.

To further optimise the layout and disguise visible plumbing, a stud wall was constructed. This not only concealed pipework but also provided a built-in shelf for bathroom essentials. A large mirror was set into the alcove, cleverly reflecting light around the room and creating a more spacious feel.

Visually, the space was unified with slate-effect wall boards and co-ordinating anti-slip vinyl flooring, combining modern style with practical, slip-resistant safety.

Mobility Wet Room Installation

Following the bespoke design process, the bathroom was expertly installed by Multi-Skilled Fitter Paul, supported by Installation Surveyor Joe. The installation took just 10 days, with Paul’s methodical approach, attention to detail, and early starts earning high praise from the Pendleburys.

The project was overseen at each stage, from design to installation completion, to ensure a smooth and timely transformation, with any final touches and snagging swiftly addressed by Craig, who the couple found exceptionally helpful and thorough.

The Finished Mobility Wet Room Adaptation Project

The result was a fully adapted en-suite mobility wet room that perfectly met the Pendleburys' brief: safe, stylish, and easy to use. The room's smart layout and thoughtful fittings offer both immediate practicality and futureproofing benefits, allowing them to continue living independently with peace of mind.

What began as uncertainty over layout and specification became a collaborative journey ending in a striking, fully accessible en-suite that exceeded expectations.

Customer Trustpilot Review

Delighted with the transformation, Mr. and Mrs. Pendlebury left this glowing 5-star review on TrustPilot:

“More Ability Passmores fitted an ensuite for us and they provided an excellent service. The Receptionist, Laura, and Kate, Customer Service Assistant, were very easy to speak to and very helpful. Gary, the designer, did a good job. Paul, our fitter, was brilliant—a wonderful worker. The work took 10 days to complete, Paul started early in the morning and had a plan for the whole day. Equally Craig, who dealt with any snagging issues, was great—very thorough and very helpful. We are extremely pleased with the result – the Ensuite is both practical and looks very stylish.”
