Mobility Wet Room Case Study | Pudsey | West Yorkshire

Published: 16 September 2019

Bathing Problem:

Mr and Mrs Lowe had a relatively modern shower room which consisted of a low level walk-in shower enclosure, a run of fitted furniture that offered storage while housing the basin unit and a matching WC unit that concealed the cistern. Fully tiled to the floor and half tiled to the walls with a complimentary mosaic border detailing the existing suite was in fantastic condition and still relatively modern in design.

Unfortunately, due to illness, the bathroom didn’t cater for present or future needs which needed to offer the facility to use the shower whilst seated, it be completely level access for entry and the bathroom feature a wash and dry WC.

Bathing Solution:

As a result of the existing bathroom being in such good shape both Mr and Mrs Lowe wanted to keep the majority as it was, focusing only on the key areas. With that being said the updates had to be in keeping with the existing design so any disturbances to the wall coverings had to be covered or corrected in a complimentary manner.

Having visited the Mobility Bathroom Showroom in Leeds in the first instance, and a result of us doing work for their son a number of years previous, both Mr & Mrs Lowe had a good idea of what they wanted and could do and were confident in our abilities to do it.

Installation Outcome:

With the main focus of the renovation to remain within the shower area nothing moved except the towel rail which was relocated in order to create additional space whereby by shower footprint was extended to fit a bespoke bench.

Removing the existing accessible walk-in shower a level access wet room was created in the same space, which with the inclusion of the bench, made it possible to use while seated. Concealed behind a stylish glass screen the run of fitted furniture remained however the WC was replaced with a wash and dry WC which made cleaning and using the facility safer and more hygienic.

What Mr & Mrs Lowe said about More Ability:

“Steve the fitter was friendly, polite and efficient.”
