Disabled Wet Room Case Study | Barnsley | South Yorkshire

Published: 13 February 2019

Bathing Problem:

Mr & Mrs White had an exceptionally tidy 3 piece bathroom that consisted of a P-shaped shower bath, pedestal basin and WC with toilet frame. Following an accident the existing bathroom had become increasingly difficult and unsafe for Mr White to use and, as a result, a disabled adaption was required in order to facilitate independent bathing for present and future needs.

Bathing Solution:

Having come recommended by Barnsley council More Ability, part of the Passmore Group were one of three contractors who were contacted by Mr & Mrs White with regards to the work. Educated to a point having spoken with the council over possible solutions the couple were filled with dread, believing the adaptation would look institutionalised and disabled.

A degenerative condition specialist equipment was required for Mr Whites needs however it was paramount that the bathroom also be aesthetically pleasing for other family members.

Visiting the couple was experienced Surveyor & Designer Nigel, who above all wanted to put both their minds at ease and deliver an adaptation that the whole family could be proud of. Listening carefully to the families wants and needs Nigel designed a stylish disabled wet room that took into consideration present and future requirements.

Installation Outcome:

With difficulty trying to visualise Nigel’s design and thought process Mr & Mrs White were invited to our Leeds disabled bathroom showroom for a presentation and product walk-through. Having won the job based on understanding the full needs and requirements both Mr & Mrs White were in awe of Nigel’s design, having gone the extra mile to ensure the bathroom adaptation achieved everything on their check list.

Featuring an infrared wash-dry toilet, wall hung basin for sit down use and a stylish and accessible disabled wet room with corian bench. The fully tiled future proofed, renovation went above and beyond all the families expectations.

What Mr & Mrs White said about More Ability:

“AN OUTSTANDING MODERN DISABLED WET ROOM!

From the start of the whole process it was FIRST CLASS. Nigel carefully listened to our needs regarding a disabled wet room and informed us and produced excellent layout plans; which come to light when we visited the showroom.

Whilst waiting for the install, Sarah kept us well informed of the start date. Our fitter, Martin, arrived promptly, kept us well informed of everything on a daily basis, kept the work clean and tidy at all times and produce an OUTSTANDING wet room.”
