Published: 20 June 2018

Problem:

Mr & Mrs Venyige had a small, odd shaped, bathroom that had received a number of DIY adaptations over the years, required as a result of issues with mobility.

Featuring a removable bath chair and over toilet commode for increased height, the 3-piece suite needed an accessible, wheelchair friendly, rethink with a view to finding a suitable solution that would increase safety, offer complete peace of mind while in use and provide a dignified experience that facilitated independent bathing.

Solution:

The pentagonal shaped space presented a challenge with regards to finding a suitable solution that solved all bathing problems. An accessible, wheelchair friendly, disabled shower room was the requirement however this was also to be achieved with minimal disturbance in a timely manner, difficult when installation lead times average between 4-6 weeks.

Received as a result of a recommendation from the William Merritt Disabled Living Centre, More Ability Surveyor and Designer, Nigel, pulled out all the stops to meet the couple’s requirements. With an initial survey appointment at the property, Nigel examined the existing small space, offering recommendations and suggestions that would fulfil all the wants, needs and requirements.

Impressed by Nigel’s knowledge, enthusiasm and willingness to do all he could the project moved quickly with a showroom appointment only a matter of days later where he presented a detailed quote, 3D visual representations of his suggestions and offered help and advice on all product choices.

Outcome:

Following an agreed specification with the customer, and some negotiations with the installation department with regards to getting the job done as quickly as possible, it was only two weeks from signed order that the room had been completely refurbished by our in house team. What was once a stressful and unpleasant task had been transformed into an accessible, wheelchair friendly, disabled shower room that promoted safety and independence while offering a dignified bathing experience.

what mr & mrs venyige said about more ability:

“I have just had my wet room completed, I can only say it’s fabulous. From survey to fitting it has been a pleasure. The attitude of the fitter Steve was totally conscientious, thorough and noise and mess kept to a minimum. I would recommend your company to all I know and if you want a testimonial I would be glad to give one. Thank you really professional group.”
