Disabled Wet Room Case Study | Leeds | West Yorkshire

Published: 31 July 2017

Problem:

Mr & Mrs Cusic had been managing in an unsuitable bathroom for quite some time; prolonged due to the DIY adaptations they had undertaken in the form of a toilet raiser, grab bars and a make shift transfer board over the bath. Following a fall in the bath whereby Mrs Cusic was unable to help her husband to get out they decided enough was enough and that the time had come to make a drastic change to the way in which they bathed.

Solution:

As a result of the distressing experience, Mr & Mrs Cusic had decided that the only thing left to do was to completely rip out the 20 year old, peach melba, suite, which featured a matching closed couple WC, pedestal basin and bath with overhead shower mixer; and replace with a safer, more practical, and somewhat assisted, solution.

Having initially come to the showroom, to explore and gain a better understand of possible solutions, they felt comfortable enough with the information that they had gathered to arrange an appointment and progress their enquiry further.

Visiting their home a matter of days later, More Ability, Surveyor & Designer, Andy, discussed all the possible solutions in more detail, while surveying the room, to help determine what would be best for the couples wants, needs and individual requirements, as wells as configuring the existing space to allow for a new layout and a better design.

Outcome:

An unmanageable, un-safe & inadequate bathroom was transformed into a safe, practical & assisted wet floor shower that catered for present needs and any potential deterioration. A fully wall boarded renovation the new wet floor shower solution featured a curtain enclosure, as well as half height shower doors for assisted bathing, slip resistant vinyl to the floor, and a new WC & basin. Having configured the room around in order to make best use of the available space, the adapted suite was now as functional as it was safe ensuring the likelihood of another fall was highly doubtful.

what mr & mrs cusic said about more ability:

“The gentleman who did the work in the bathroom was excellent; very considerate. I would definitely recommend in the future.”
