Accessible Wet Floor Shower | Mirfield | More Ability

Published: 16 December 2022

Problem

Mrs. Oakes had a large bathroom, which consisted of a quadrant shower cubicle with a large step, a WC, and a basin. The bathroom had become difficult for her to use as she was struggling to get in and out of the shower because of the step and therefore she wanted to explore her options to get a safer bathing solution.

Solution

With the help of her Son and Daughter, they began to research the internet in the hope of finding a reputable local company that could deliver a suitable bathing solution. Coming across More Ability they were confident we could deliver an accessible bathroom as part of our full design and fit service.

Booking a free design appointment online they were visited by Senior Designer Garry. Following a detailed discussion, Garry proposed several solutions which included the possibility of installing either a Level access shower or a wet room which could be further enhanced with the addition of a shower with a seat option.

Following Garry’s advice, the triad agreed that an accessible wet floor shower room was the better bathing solution as they wanted to retain a stylish and accessible finish. Future-proofing the solution a decision was made to include a Corian bench along with a few more accessible bathroom design options including accessible wallboards, anti-slip vinyl flooring, and grab rails.

Delighted with the design Mrs. Oakes and her children were happy to move onto the next stage of the process, and visited our Leeds Bathroom Showroom where Garry presented them with CAD visuals and helped choose the final bathroom finishing touches.

Accessible Wet Floor Shower

A stylish accessible wet floor shower was fit by our multi-skilled fitter Phil, as part of our full-service offering from design to installation.

The accessible solution included a wet floor shower with a stylish Corian Bench and a glass flipper screen to help keep water concealed within the shower area. A purpose-built stud wall was constructed to house a comfort height WC and wall-hung basin. Concealing all pipe work this semi-recessed feature offered a maintenance-free flush finish.

The entire shower room was fit with beige accessible wallboards and finished off with complimentary grey anti-slip vinyl flooring which would increase safety.

Outcome

An existing shower room that was becoming difficult to use was transformed into a beautiful accessible wet floor shower room, fit with modern and safety features.
