Mobility Level Access Shower Case Study | Leeds | West Yorkshire

Published: 31 May 2018

Problem:

Mr & Mrs Wilson had an existing small shower room that comprised of a quadrant shower enclosure, vanity basin unit and a closed couple WC. Fully tiled covering the floor and walls the existing space had become increasingly difficult to use, given the high step up and into the shower enclosure, and featured a toilet frame with seat riser to aid getting on and off.

Solution:

Wanting to keep the WC and vanity basin unit undisturbed the focus area of the bathroom adaptation works would look to replacing the existing shower enclosure with a level access shower tray, making good to the surrounding walls and floor.

Exploring all options More Ability Surveyor & Designer, Andy, proposed the idea of installing an under floor level access tray, enclosing the shower area with half height bi-fold doors which would allow for assisted showering if and when the need presented itself.

Outcome:

With a purely needs based renovation at the heart of the mobility bathroom adaptation the finished level access shower room promoted ease of use, safety and independence. With complimentary wall boards installed over the tiles in the wet area the mobility shower room was finished with anti-slip vinyl to the floor and also featured a shower seat for added peace of mind.
