Accessible Wet Floor Shower Case Study | Wakefield | West Yorkshire

Published: 31 May 2016

Problem:

Mr & Mrs Doak had a small bathroom inclusive of a bath with over shower mixer and curtain enclosure, low rise WC and small vanity basin unit. The suite was cream coloured and detailed a full tile effect with floral boarder to the bathing area with painted decoration to the remaining walls and square tile effect vinyl to the floor.

Although the suite wasn’t overly dated it did require some TLC. Furthermore Mrs Doak was conscious of the fact she was struggling with the current facilities and as such the couple wanted to explore their options with regards to easy access showering solutions as part of the wider renovation works.

Solution:

Having spoken with the couple prior to the site survey More Ability Surveyor & Designer Paul Tarbard went to the visit with a number of easy access showering solutions in mind that, through his years of experience, felt would help overcome the couples current problems and woes with bathing.

During the visit Paul, who had already measured the existing suite following formal introductions, was then able to present all possible options that would work within the existing suite and meet the couple’s personal requirements. Having discussed in detail all adequate variations, including features, advantages & benefits of wet floor showers / wet room alternatives, level access showers and walk-in showers a firm, all encompassing, decision was made to go for a stylish wet floor shower solution.

Outcome:

The finished and fully installed bath to wet floor shower room conversion was stylish in appearance yet functional in use with several sleek finishing touches to further compliment the fully accessible solution. A complete rip out of refit saw a number of ease of use amenities installed including a raised height WC, raised height pedestal basin, wall mounted shower stool and slip resistant vinyl to the flooring. The room was fully tiled using large grey wall tiles to ¾ of the room with dark grey, fully water proofed, wall boards to the shower area.

what mr & mrs doak said about more ability:

Joe was a very competent tradesman giving a very good finish to the work and was really easy to get along with.”
