Mrs Douglas, Rothwell, Leeds, West Yorkshire - a reinvented wet room

12 January 2016

Problem:

Mrs Douglas had a small existing wet room that along with general refurbishment works to make it more modern and equipped with the latest safety features also required a discussion around fixture relocation to make the most of available space in order to overcome manageability and problems with manoeuvrability.

Solution:

More Ability Surveyor & Designer, Paul Tarbard, spoke at lengths with Mrs Douglas to ascertain where her existing wet room let her down. A number of fixtures were a simple swap however Paul intended to overcome any problems, niggles & general grumbles however big or small with the design and product selection of the refurbishment.

One main priority was making the most of the available space, which due to fixture location the existing suite didn’t do very well. Within the suite there was also two poorly placed floor to wall grab handles / walking aids which due to recent innovations were outdated and unnecessary.

Outcome:

Time spent understanding all issues resulted in an efficiently designed safe & practical wet room that was bespoke & uniquely created to cater for Mrs Douglas wants, needs and desires. Paul re-designed the wet room with regards to fixture location, really opening up the available floor space and making it much more manageable.

A raised height toilet was installed with two forms of grab rails, a standard wall mounted fixture and a drop down rail, alongside a wall mounted basin with easy access should Mrs Douglas wish to use it seated. Finally the room was finished in slip resistant vinyl with same colouring tiles applied to the walls – the result? A reinvented wet room that would stand the test of time.
