Mr & Mrs Robson had your typical sized bathroom consisting of a bath, basin and separate shower enclosure with a detached WC located in another area of the home. Both husband and wife were of a more senior age and consequently struggled with the current fixtures. The bath had in fact become redundant leaving only the shower enclosure, which due to the high step in and out, had become a real safety hazard.
Furthermore the design and layout of the existing suite meant maneuvering in, out and within the room was troublesome as a result of available space which was darkened due to the shower enclosure interfering with the window reducing the amount of natural light.
Having spoken with the couple at lengths More Ability surveyor & designer Nigel Dawson proposed the idea of converting the multi-functional bathroom that quite frankly, due to usability, was no use nor ornament into a spacious wet room. Bearing in mind present and future needs Nigel wanted to ensure the couple would be set for any further health developments / deteriorations and in essence avoid costly renovations works as results – the wet room solved all problems; present, planned and unforeseen.
The finished, fully renovated and redesigned wet room was open, airy and clean following an adoption of a minimalistic look and feel. The couple had two main problems to solve – ease of use and safety. The new suite accomplished this but did so in a stylish and accessible manner. Space was available in abundance and the incorporation of the corian bench provided extra stability while showering but did so in an aspirational way. The couple were thrilled with the finished works commenting how it had changed their lives for the better.
