Accessible Wet Floor Shower Case Study | Leeds | West Yorkshire

Published: 14 November 2016

Problem:

Mr & Mrs Murray had recently purchased the ground floor flat in order to be nearer their daughter having previous lived in Barnsley. Prior to being able to move in they wanted to adapt their existing bathroom for ease of use and safer bathing. The existing, whisper pink, 3-piece bathroom suite consisted of a matching bath with over shower mixer, pedestal basin and WC. The 80’s styled bathroom was fully tiled with light grey marble effect border tiles and linoleum textured flooring. Irrespective of the reasons behind the works the bathroom was clearly dated in both look and feel.

Solution:

Having initially come to our showroom to see what we were about and what we could offer; both Mr & Mrs Murray were impressed by our approach in helping them find the perfect solution for their needs. Spending a good hour in talks with surveyor & designer, Garry Kirkbright, the couple left the showroom feeling confident having ironed out initial possibilities having brought the floor plans to their new property with them.

Captivated with one display in particular the couple were keen to integrate the stylish wet floor shower and corian bench adaption in to their own bath/shower room however it wasn’t until 6 weeks following their initial visit that they got back in touch with Garry with a view to arranging a site survey.

Outcome:

The time taken and length of their overall enquiry was a wait worth taking. The finished wet room was stylish yet functional and safe with accessibility and stability a key area of concentration in the adaption. A once dated and un-usable bathroom had been transformed into a fully tiled wet room with slip resistant vinyl to the floor. The fully wall boarded and water proofed shower area was cordoned off and concealed with a purpose built half height wall which facilitated the positioning of grab rails on both sides of the shower and WC area which can be seen in the 3D visuals below.

what mr & mrs murrary said about more ability:

“A big thank you to Andy, our fitter, for all your hard work in transforming our bathroom – you were brilliant.”
